The sentence day eventually came for Jack and he met with his lawyer before he headed to court. Jack gave his lawyer the rest of the money that he had and told him to keep it in case he had to go to jail. When they made it to the court room the prosecutor tested against him which was damaging to Jack's image. The decision of the judge was "5010B" which was a youth sentence that could last for 6 months to 6 years. After the sentence he was able to meet with his father and he was sorry for the pain that he brought to his family. Jack also found out that his dad wrecked Jack's car in order to gain some insurance money. Jack and the rest of the sentenced criminals were taken to a prison in New York the next day and were placed to bunks. Jack was quickly introduced to the prison life when a man asked if he would have sex with guys. He also found Lucas, a guy who came into the prison at the same time as Jack, in the bathroom naked after he was raped but several guys. Jack was then later transferred to a prison in Kentucky where he was placed in a single cell because he had lice. The first week was rough for Jack because he had no books or anything and all he could do was think about what he had done. Eventually someone gave Jack some books and a pencil and paper to write with. Jack was about to be released into population when he was cleared for not having lice but he was able to stay in the single cell because he got a job as a X-ray tech in the prison hospital. This job allowed him to see the harshness of prison life without having to be close to it.
It is really interesting to hear some of the stories that actually happened in prison and it really makes you wonder at the possible things that go on at prison. It is also crazy that just 24 hours in prison, Jack had experienced a victim of rape in the prison. Jack seems to focus himself in prison and has stopped doing any drugs even though they are easy to come by in prison. I believe since he is being a good inmate and that he is working in the hospital it will allow him to get out of prison faster. I can not wait to see if Jack writes about anymore prison stories.
